The Zonta Club of Melbourne’s West (Inc.) is a member of Zonta International, a global service organisation of professionals working together across political and social boundaries to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.

Zonta club members volunteer their time, ideas and skills to raise funds and conduct activities to support projects and awards for the benefit of women and their families in the local community and for Zonta International service programs which improve the situations of women in developing countries.

Dinner meetings are held at 6.30p.m.on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Williamstown R.S.L. and activities occur across the western suburbs of Melbourne. Our club provides opportunities to give back to the community, cultivate friendships, network, develop new skills and enjoy working on projects and fundraising with members from diverse professional and social backgrounds .

Our Story

On August 4th, 1981, a “Buffet Dinner and Organization Meeting of the Zonta Club of Footscray” was held at Le Jardin Receptions, commencing with “Sherries and Savouries”. The meeting agreed to apply for Charter Membership of Zonta International.

Zonta Delivers

Zonta Delivers    Since 1923, Zonta International has contributed more that US$16.5 million to international projects to empower women and girls and improve their families’ lives, and the communities in which they live.  This biennium alone, Zonta has committed US$4.03 million to efforts to prevent the root causes of gender inequality and violence against women and girls through education.  Follow the link below to learn more about Zonta International Service Programs.

ZONTA SAYS NO

Zonta Says NO to End Violence against Women “Zonta says No to Violence against Women” is a Zonta International campaign to raise awareness of and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world. The campaign, which began in November 2012 features the service and advocacy actions of Zonta clubs and districts to prevent and end violence against women and girls in their local communities. It will also highlight Zonta International’s ongoing efforts to end violence against women and girls through the Zonta International Strategies to End Violence against Women (ZISVAW) program and through Zonta’s partnerships with the United Nations and its agencies.
